Apple Juice. After apples are picked, separators examine them for mold or decaying. Then they are given a good rinse an taken back to factories to be made into apple juice. First they wash them once or twice. Everytime one is washed it is scrubbed for 30-45 minutes and sprayed with fresh water until squeaky clean. A special machine squeezes the apples until they make juice. That juice is heat-treated or pasteurized for safety. An inspecter comes by to sample the apple juice. If the inspecter says its healthy then it is poured into bottles and juice boxes. Then are deliverd to stores so people can buy it.
Apple juice has a significant concentraition of phenolics thought to help protect from mant diseases associated with aging, including heart disease and cancer. As you probably know apple juice comes from apples. When English colonists arrived in North America they only found crab apples. New York is known as the apple state for all their apples. they ranked second in the nation for apple production. the pilgrims planted the first United States apple tree in the Massachusetts bay colony. Apples are the second most valuable fruit grown in the United States. The worlds top apple producers are China, United States, Turkey, Italy, and Poland. The longest living apple tree was planted in 1647 and lived untill 1866 when it was struck by a train. October is national apple month.
