Batman is one of the worlds best known superhero. He was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger in 1939 as a superhero protecting a crime-filled Gotham city. Batman first appeared in Detective comics #27, and got his own comic in 1942. Batman's real name is Bruce Wayne. His parents,Thomas and Martha, were really rich, and were the owners of Wayne Enterprises. They lived in Wayne Manor, in Gotham City.

As a boy, Bruce Wayne's parents were shot by a desprate hobo after leaving the movie theater. Bruce saw the whole thing in front of him. In the movie "Batman Begins" the last word his father says is "Don't be afraid." That night, with the street stained with his parents blood, he made a promis to himself that he would avendge him parents death by fighting crime and saving the innocent.

Bruce Wayne spent many years training for his war on crime. He left to explore the world at around 20 years old (different in other orgins) to know the evil he will soon fight. In the movie
